03-09.2021 Invited to create a giant painting of the Easter Altarpiece for St. Lorenz Church in Munich, St. Thomas & St. Lorenz & St. Johann Baptist Church Parish Association, Germany
When I first met Pfr. Willi Huber, the director of the St. Lorenz & St. Thomas & St. Johann Baptist parish six months ago, he kindly invited me to create the main altarpiece for the Lorenz Church in Munich. The entire work from project approval, preliminary preparation, independent creation, work preservation and display methods… lasted six months, after more than 700 hours of kneeling and painting, I finally overcame the most difficult creative challenge so far.
This work, which is more than four meters high and has a total area of about 12 square meters, will be displayed to the public in St. Lorenz (Muspillistraße 14, 81925 München) every Easter beginning in 2022 for fifty days until it is acquired by the collector. I painted hundreds of superimposed shapes of different colours in my own personalised abstract painting language, expressing love, joy, faith and glory and signifying the profound meaning of Jesus’ resurrection.
I have already expressed my approval to the German Parish Committee that all copyright fees for my works will be donated in full and help disadvantaged groups, especially children, in the name of a collective.
Thanks to everyone who helped me with my art project!

2019-2021 “Professional Development Project for College Teachers” Training Program of Shanghai. CN
From 2019 to 2021 as a visiting scholar I was invited by Professorin Karen Pontoppidan, who is the Vice President of Academy of Fine Arts Munich, and joined a research program in the classe of jewellery and hollowware at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich for two years.
This program includes an investigation of jewellery as a form of contemporary art and related European traditions, as well as a consideration of different pedagogical approaches in different cultural contexts.
“… I got to know Yan Ren as a dedicated student, and her contributions to the program are highly appreciated by the staff and her fellow students.
Yan Ren is a talented artist. She has in the past years been able to deepen her studies, which have guided her to an impressive new body of artistic work. …
There is for me no doubt that Yan Ren has used the opportunity to study abroad well and I am convinced that Yan Ren’s deepened insights will be very beneficial for her future work as a teacher.” —— Prof. Karen Pontoppidan

2024.08 Invited to participate in the film project for the 4th World Congress of Lausanne Movement (Seoul 2024) and 50th Anniversary Celebration, as a representative of Asian women in the opening ceremony film performance Germany
An abandoned light rail station at the former Olympic site in Munich is the most spectacular Lost Places in Germany! Forgotten for decades, it once had thousands of passengers getting on and off the trains every day, but now it is eerily silent, with broken glass scattered everywhere and most of the demolished tracks overgrown with plants. Today only a handful of people know about the station at the Olympic Stadium. This creepy but monumental “Geisterbahnhof” is an adventure magnet, mainly attracting many street artists and photographers.
I’m honored to be invited by the director Zippora Schneider-Ulrich to come „Geisterbahnhof“ in August 2024 to participate in the filming of the film „Let the church declare and display Christ together”for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Lausanne Movement and the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Seoul Conference. In the film, I held a torch and became a representative of Asian women. This rare filming experience will be unforgettable for me. Thank You All!
Congratulations to The Fourth Lausanne Congress 2024 to be held grandly at the Songdo International Exhibition Center in Incheon, Seoul, South Korea from September 22 to 28!
The signal fire is lit, you will create beauty from the ashes, and I will be with you forever!

07-09.2024 Invited to create a large-scale installation in public space for the “Peace Park”in Munich (next to the English Garden) and invited to the PILOTENKUECHE International Art Residency Program in Leipzig Germany
In the small parish hall of St. Lorenz, I created a wall panel installation art for the “Garden of Peace” on the east side of the English Garden in Munich.
I sought creative inspiration from the murals of the Dunhuang Grottoes in China. I used traditional Chinese painting techniques to paint doves, water and fire on wooden boards, while also writing calligraphy in different languages.
I hope that with our joint efforts, this garden of freedom and tolerance will attract more people of different nationalities and create a better future for world peace.
I firmly believe that art can contribute to world peace and empower human faith!
